Lucy MacGillis (b. 1977, U.S.A.) came to Umbria 20 years ago, after her graduation from the University of Pennsylvannia, to study with Nicolas Carone at the former International School of Art in Montecastelli di Vibio. She has continued to live and paint in Umbria with her Italo-American son, Vito, and partner Piero. Her work is figurative realism which continues to be informed by the old masters and her interpretation of nature. MacGillis grinds her own oil paints using natural Italian earth pigments. She is represented in private and public collections internationally. Her studio is in the hills above Fratta Todina, north of Todi.
